Dahab City: Blue Hole and Colored Canyon

Dahab city. Have you heard of him? What about the underwater vertical cave called the Blue Hole? Well, maybe you know about the Colored Canyon? If all this is not familiar to you, then you will definitely be surprised to learn that there is a real planet Mars an hour’s drive from Sharm El Sheikh! Yes, yes, you read everything correctly, since the Salama Canyon itself (Colored Canyon) in its unique structure is very similar to the structure of the planet Mars. Our tourists who visited there do not believe that such a miracle of nature can be real! Guests come from the excursion with a whole series of photographs and unforgettable impressions! In addition, you will definitely get acquainted with the culture of the Bedouins, who for the most part represent the indigenous population of the Sinai Peninsula. A culture that is not always clear to us and evokes different emotions, but you definitely won’t be able to forget getting to know them!

And the Blue Hole National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most popular places in the world among technical divers, with a depth of 130 meters. Divers from all over the world fly to Sharm El Sheikh and from the airport head straight to Dahab to dive in the Blue Hole. The corals that hang over the passage in the form of an arch protect the place from waves and currents, so snorkeling here is also comfortable and very interesting.

Excursion program “City of Dahab: Blue Hole and Colored Canyon”:

– Departure from the hotel in Sharm El Sheikh

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel at approximately 07:00 am at the gate of your hotel (after booking the excursion we will inform you the exact time), and you will go towards the city of Dahab, namely to the Blue Hole Nature Reserve. On the way to your first stop, you can see entire families of wild camels in the desert!

– Camel riding in Dahab

A stop where you will ride real Bedouin camels right along the sea. Taking beautiful photos and enjoying the ride on the Desert Caravans, you will get a lot of impressions!

Also, if desired, for an additional fee of $10 when booking an excursion, after camel riding you will ride an ATV into the mountains of Dahab, driving along the sea route and entering a small desert surrounded by the Sinai mountains. The ATV ride will take up to 20 minutes.

– Snorkeling in the Blue Hole National Reserve

Then, your group will be given a place in a tent under a canopy, where you can leave your things, change clothes, and, together with a professional instructor, go explore the coral reef of the Blue Hole National Reserve.”

In the world famous Blue Hole Nature Reserve, the coral reef has a unique structure, and the underwater flora and fauna is of stunning beauty, which is what attracts divers from all over the world. The architecture of the reef is such that a huge arch in the wall of the reef, separated by an oval lagoon from the open sea, has an arch inclined towards the sea, up to 54 meters deep. The arch, which is made in a 26-meter thick reef at its top, makes its passage extremely dangerous for divers.

Please note: for snorkeling in this area it is MANDATORY to have masks, life jackets, and special shoes for corals (masks, life vests, thermal suits, fins – can be rented on the spot upon arrival, but you must take protective shoes with myself).

– Lunch

Upon return, after swimming, lunch will be waiting for you (grilled chicken, rice, potatoes, salad, bread, tahina), you can purchase drinks on the spot for an additional fee if desired.

The first stop will generally take up to 2.5 hours.

– Shopping, oil  and perfume factory in Dahab

After lunch we will go to the oil factory for shopping. This will take about 30 minutes.

– Jeep safari to the Colored Canyon

The unique Salama Canyon (Colored Canyon) is located in the city of Nuweiba, that is, you will visit 2 cities in one day: Dahab and Nuweiba! The journey to the canyon will take about 20 minutes.

Since the Colored Canyon is located in the desert, to drive through its sands we will need to transfer to safari jeeps with a real Bedouin driver! You definitely won’t forget this!

– Colored Canyon (Salyama Canyon)

Then you will have an hour-long walk through an amazing canyon; you definitely won’t believe that such places exist on earth! A whole series of photos in the Colored Canyon is guaranteed, get your camera ready! The road in the canyon is winding, and sometimes you will have to climb over the red rocks of the canyon. You will be dirty, but very happy!

– Tea with the Bedouins in the Colored Canyon

At the end of the walk, the Bedouins will treat you to their signature Bedouin tea and we will go back to our transfer in a jeep.

– Return back

The journey home to your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh will take approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.
