Sharm El Sheikh was called Ophira until 1982, and to this day Sharm El Sheikh Airport is also called Ophira. The name of the city itself translates as “Sheikh Bay”. The city is surrounded on both sides by two nature reserves: Ras Mohammed and Nabq Nature Reserve, and Tiran Island can be seen from the coastline. The coastline of the city is 30 km.

The main attractions of Sharm El Sheikh are: the Old Town with the oriental bazaar “Old Market” with an observation rock and the El Sahaba Mosque – “like from a fairy tale” – our tourists describe it, the Naama Bay area with a shopping and entertainment district and a pedestrian promenade , the Hollywood entertainment complex, Soho square, the largest water park in the city – in Hadaba, the dolphinarium in Nabq, the Hay El Noor area – with a large Coptic church and the largest and most beautiful mosque in the city “Al Mustafa”, Peace Square, and monument on El Fanar Square.

When leaving Sharm El Sheikh airport you are greeted by the inscription: “Welcome to a peaceful land” in English. And so it is, Sharm has become a city actively hosting national, pan-Arab and international conferences. Only recently, in the fall of 2022, Sharm hosted the UN International Climate Change Conference – these are the largest and most important annual meetings at which the world community discusses climate change on the planet.

– Pick up from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh                                 

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel gate around 20:00 and you will head to the Hai El Noor area.

– Coptic Orthodox Church in Sharm El Sheikh

The first stop will be the Coptic Orthodox Church “As Samaiyun”. It was built quite recently, in 2010. In appearance it resembles a mosque, but the domes are decorated with crosses. At the entrance to the church there are statues of lions as symbols of Christianity. The crosses of the church also have an unusual shape of “snowflakes” – they are designed so that people looking at them can see them from all sides. Huge stained glass windows decorate the church from the outside.

– Al Mustafa Mosque

Not far from the church, our second stop will be at the Al Mustafa Mosque. It was erected in 2006, specifically away from tourist areas so that believers could pray in peace. During construction, gray marble and multi-colored stones were used for decoration. On both sides of the central building there are two minarets 26 meters in height. Inside there are two separate rooms for men and women. To get inside, you must comply with the dress code: the body, including arms and legs, must be covered, women also need to cover their heads with a headscarf.

– Old Market

Then, we will go to the most popular oriental bazaar – the Old Market. There we will visit one of the newest mosques in the city – El Sahaba. This mosque is the pearl of the old city, made in a fairy-tale style, as our tourists describe it. To enter inside, a dress code is required (near the mosque you can rent things necessary for entry for a negotiable price). The entire floor inside the temple is carpeted, and you must take off your shoes before entering. The mosque design was done by Fouad Tawfik Hafez – free of charge. The mosque covers an area of 3000 square meters with two minarets 81 meters in height. The total cost of the mosque is estimated at 30 million Egyptian pounds.

After visiting the mosque, you can stroll through the market, buy oriental sweets, teas, spices and souvenirs.

– Transfer back to your hotel

After the end of the sightseeing tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel. Return is expected around 23:00.

– Soho Square

The first stop, lasting 1 hour, will be at Soho Square – located in the Sharks Bay area. The square is made in European style, preserving the flavor of the east. The first thing that catches your eye is the gorgeous lighting of the entire area, which makes it look like something out of a fairy tale. Soho Square is known for its shops and shopping centers, but the main highlight is definitely the singing fountain and the indoor skating rink, which works even in 40 degree heat!

– Peace Square, Sign of Peace

Following further on our program, we will stop for 10 minutes at Peace Square. Peace Square – houses the famous “Sign of Peace”, which is included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest work of art made of metal. To implement it, Egyptian businessman Nasser Abdel-Latif donated 25 million Egyptian pounds. The statue looks like a globe with 8 wings indicating the cardinal directions, symbolizing the god Ra. The platform is made of black granite, which then turns into a lotus flower.

– Hollywood in Sharm El Sheikh

Then we will visit an entertainment center called “Hollywood”, the visit will take 30 minutes. Huge figures of dinosaurs, elephants and giraffes will definitely impress you! There is a singing fountain on the territory of the entertainment center, and evening shows are also held there (starting at 20:00). The center covers an area of 80 thousand square meters!

– Hay El Noor, Al Mustafa Mosque

After this, we will go to the Hay El Noor area and visit the Al Mustafa Mosque – which was built in 2006, specifically away from the tourist areas so that believers could pray in peace.
